1965 Newlyn

At my local junk shop I found these two lamp bases. Firstly I dived on them thinking ‘Bernard Rook’ but they are in fact made by Peter Ellery of Tremaen Pottery.  Think Troika era in Newlyn, Cornwall when Eric Leaper was a party animal! The smoke fired lamp bases were the signature of Tremaen pottery. They are tactile and sculptural with an influence of Barbara Hepworth at the time.
